Mélusine Chappuis is a Swiss musician, pianist and composer based in Bern. She first learned classical music and then switched to jazz. This musical background has a strong influence on her playing and her approach to music. She obtained a bachelor and a master degree at the Hochschule der Künste Bern studying with Colin Vallon, Stefan Aeby, Patrice Moret, Manuel Bärtsch and many others. Currently she is mostly performing in Switzerland and internationally with the collective ARBRE, alongside Paul Butscher and Xavier Almeida. The band was recently selected for the Festival Suisse Diagonales Jazz 2024 and will release its second album on Neuklang Records in October 2023. In parallel, she composes and performs regularly with various projects, including her solo project. These experiences have led her to develop a specific sound which combines acoustic, electronic, improvisation, space and introspection.
