Fhunyue Gao works with multidisciplinary methods in fields ranging from dance to music, across theatre and film, cuisine and the organisation of cultural events. Active since 2010, she has been a part of many different collaborative projects and cultural associations, as well as solo projects in Switzerland and Europe.

Musically on crossroads with pop, electronic music, and spoken word, the theremin and Buchla synthesizer are longtime allies accompanying her vocals.

In the creative process she tries to invent and visualise states of being, melancholic spheres in which ambiguous possibilities of time, and questions occupying social space, can arise.
Each work becomes a surrealist attempt to illustrate the undefined, the non-palpable, visually, performatively, musically. A special focus in her work is dedicated to questions concerning racism, specifically anti-asian racism in Switzerland.

On the road with her solo project FYI G, and composing music for theatre and film since 2016.
Collaborator of the music duos Junee and Gao Kacirek. Co-director of the performance company RobinRobin with Annalena Fröhlich since 2016.
Founding member of the collective FAAB G (feminist asian antiracist band Geneva).
Collaborator in the association Bongo Joe from 2014-2022. Selection of artists and companies whom she worked with as a performer: Thom Luz, Dorit Chrysler, Bern Ballet, Scottish Dance Theatre, Unplush, Peeping Tom, Damien Jalet, L’Eclair, Citron Citron, Sayaka Mizuno. Awarded with the Zürcher Filmpreis 2022 for her acting role in the short film Chute by Nora Longatti.
