Helena Hallberg is a Swiss/Swedish composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and actor based in New York City.
Artistically described as a chameleon, Hallberg enjoys weaving her skills into projects on many different levels, mostly with help from one of her 4 native languages.
Blind was Hallberg’s debut EP, which was released in 2017 and can be heard on Swiss National Radio. In 2018, The Heathens were born. A force of musical nature, this 7-piece backing band has accompanied Hallberg around the city at venues like The Knitting Factory, The Bitter End and Silvana Harlem. In June 2020, her most recent EP Last Love was released reaching international acclaim. Her most recent single “Cause I Can” was released in October 2020, and won first place in the Folk/Indie Category of Indie International Song Contest.
Having used her knack for story-telling on stage since she was very young, she recently played Marie Curie in the 2019 Fred Ebb Workshop of Radioactive (written by Will Reynolds and Eric Price), directed by Sammi Cannold. She’s also been involved in performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Plaza Hotel, as well as playing Luisa in Manhattan School of Music’s inaugural musical theatre production of Nine.
Following her strong interest in using music as an educational tool, Hallberg is known for crossing geographical, cultural and linguistic boundaries when teaching. Since 2015, she’s been coaching students across two continents. One of her favorite postings is working with the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts, an international organization that emphasizes on educating children and young adults about the importance of the creative process and how it enriches our lives.
Hallberg is also known for her agility as a voice over actor. Her experience as an actor and linguistic ability has led her to lend her voice to projects for companies like Microsoft, Western Union, Radisson Blu Hotels and Mercuri International.
