Brandy Butler, born 1979, originally hails from Reading,Pa. and has resided in Zürich Switzerland since 2003. She is a singer, instrumentalist, performance artist, activist, primary school music educator, mother and community leader.
Because of her incredible combination of heart, work ethic and creative flow, Brandy Butler is recognized as one of the most important contributors to the Zürich/Swiss cultural scene.

She is a highly respected musician and vocalist having made appearances, or worked with, almost every major Swiss Artist including Sophie Hunger, Stress, Erika Stucky, Sina, Steff La Cheffe, Phenomden, etc.

In 2001 she completed a Bachelor of Jazz Performance from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pa. In 2010 She completed her Master's degree in Musik Education in 2010. She is currently completing her second Masters in Elementary Music Ed. at the Zürcher Hochshule der Künste.
From 2011 - 2014 she grew and successfully ran one of the world’s largest KindermusikTM programs.

Since 2014 she has been a part of the city’s educational resources, teaching “Musikalische Grundschule” at various schools. Next to her work as an educator, she also works as a consultant for various organizations that look to address bias and discriminatory practices within their institutions.

She has toured Europe, America and Africa with bands such as Chamber Soul, Dee Day Dub, Brandy Butler & The Fonxionaires, Weeland, King Kora and her highly acclaimed solo project Brandy Butler and the Brokenhearted.
Since the fall of 2019 she is an ensemble member of Theater Neumarkt.

She organizes The Black Performance Lab for queer black people of color, which is about creating opportunities for black people of color to redefine their long unheard narratives as performers.

She is a co-founder of the Mino Collective, a think tank dedicated to centering female- identified, queer folk, and people of color in the Swiss music and performance industries.

She is the founder of Switzerland’s first ever Drag Queen Story Time. She manages and performs with several drag folx who are dedicated to creating fun
atmospheres, where children ages 3-8 can be free to play and experiment with their own gender identity.

Whether on the European theatrical stage at the Zürcher Schauspielhaus or Münchener Kammerspiele, Internationally acclaimed musical stages such as the Montreux Jazz Fest or even a living room concert, Brandy Butler delights wherever she performs.
