Ornella PONNAZ is a Swiss-Brazilian pianist who has been immersed in various musical styles ranging from soul to Brazilian music.
She made her first music experiences with her trio and next evolved in a contemporary jazz piano-voice duet and won the prestigious Friedl Wald Scholarship, in 2008.
Ornella Ponnaz joined the 4tet of the saxophonist Juliane Rickenmann with whom she recorded the CD "Emei" and performed mainly in Switzerland and China during two tours between 2011 and 2015.
In 2015, she had the chance to come across the mystical history of Cuban Batas and took part of the Okan Iya project, founded by Reinaldo Flecha.
Winners of the All African Music Award, Gwen & Tiana invited her for some dates in Switzerland and a tour in all France in 2016.
She played with the singer Florence Chitacumbi and is currently working on a project mixing jazz improvisation and electronics with Philippe Ehinger and Christophe Calpini.
